United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) on behalf of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Iraq, seeks the interest of qualified vendors and Service Providers to participate in an upcoming tender solicitation for the Construction of New Canal in Priority Area 1, AlBurkat Area, Samawa, Muthana Governorate in Iraq. The project aims at mitigating and preventing Sand and Dust Storms in the area. The new irrigation canal will be used to convey irrigation water to the sub and territory canals in the targeted area The scope of works shall include but not limited to: • Construction of New Primary Channels - Canal with width of approx. 5 meters at the top, approx. 2.5 meters at the bottom, and its height of approx 3 meters, with a total length of approx 5 Km. The works include levelling works for the new canal route, Excavation works for the new canal, Removal of the debris and replacing of the soil if needed, Levelling works and compacting of the canal base and sides, Sealing of the canal base and sides with clay to reduce water permeability, etc • Construction of the canal shoulders as per the required levels - of approx 2 m width from bottom and approx 2 m height Please note that this request for EOI is not an invitation for submission of tenders. The complete detail of the requirement will be issued to bidders after this request for EOI is closed. UNON reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement of this EOI at any time during the EOI and/or solicitation process. Submitting a reply to this REOI does not therefore automatically guarantee that your company will be considered for issuance of the solicitation documents. Only vendors who, in the UN's sole discretion, are deemed eligible and qualified, upon completion of an objective evaluation of the EOI submissions, may receive the final tender solicitation documents. UNON invites companies to express their interest by filling out the vendor response form and sending it either electronically or via email.
