The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), as a lead agency to procure the services of qualified Travel Agent/s for the provision of travel management services to the UN agancies in Addis Ababa, hereby seeks to pre-qualify suitable firms (local, international companies and joint ventures) that have specialty in the area of travel management services for a Long Term Agreement (LTA) of five years. The UN in Addis Ababa is a large group and the nature of business demands firm/s that are in sound financial standing and that have expert industry knowledge as well as experience in handling complex requirements. Based on historical data of 2015 and 2016; the total number of tickets issued for the UNECA and UN agencies is 28,949 out of which 7% is the share for domestic, 58% for regional and 35% is for international flights. However, the UNECA does not guarantee any minimum or maximum quantity of travel service purchases under the to be LTA arrangement. Short-listed and eligible firms that passed the pre-qualification stage will be invited to participate in the tender for travel management services in a form of a Request for Proposal (RFP). The successful contractor/s, within 30 days of signature of a LTA, will be required to provide a fully integrated system for travel services from reservations to ticket delivery, including computerized reservations system to ensure the most efficient routings; least costly plans of action to ensure timely services including hotel reservation on behalf of the UN Traveler, ground transportation, provision of information on visa, and vaccination requirement; methods of resolving routine travel constraints and problems. The contractor/s will have an office on the premises of UNECA for an affordable rent and under no circumstances should business for any other client be transacted through this dedicated office. Please note that the UNECA is precluded from entering into contract with a firm that is not fully registered with UNGM.
