Description
The UN Procurement Division is seeking expressions of interest from qualified vendors for the provision of all terrain 4x4 vehicles, spare parts and ancillary services in support of UN peace-keeping missions worldwide, on the basis of long-term agreement(s) for a period of 3 years, with 2 one-year extensions at the UN''s option. The large majority of vehicles utilized by the United Nations are left-hand drive, however a limited number of right-hand drive vehicles are to be available. Brief description of the three required vehicle categories: 1. Medium Duty 4x4 vehicle – A general purpose station wagon type for 5-7 passengers, with robust suspension to allow a competent all weather off-road performance combined with good highway characteristics. These vehicles should have a payload in excess of 550kg, good ground clearance, manual 5-speed transmission, limited slip differential, high-low transfer case, and a power to weight ratio in excess of 26 watts/kg. Detailed minimum technical specifications will be conveyed in the solicitation document. The following four variants/types within this vehicle category are sought : a) general purpose station wagon long wheel base (7 pax) b) general purpose station wagon short wheel base (5pax) c) VIP or representational vehicle d) Police patrol with appropriate colour scheme, light bars and sirens. It should be noted that about 75% of the total number of vehicles estimated to be required over the evisaged contract term are type a) above, 20% are type b), and the remaining are types c) and d). 2. Heavy Duty 4x4 vehicle – A durable and rugged vehicle able to operate full-time in all weather rough terrain and off-road environments. These vehicles should have heavy duty suspension, payload in excess of 650kg, excellent ground clearance, excellent wading depth, high-low transfer case, differential locks, extended range fuel tanks, and a power to weight ratio in excess of 26 watts/kg. Detailed minimum technical specifications will be conveyed in the solicitation document. The following three variants/types within this vehicle category are sought: a) general purpose station wagon long wheel base (7 pax) b) VIP or representational vehicle c) Police patrol with appropriate colour scheme, light bars and sirens. It should be noted that about 95% of the total number of vehicles estimated to be required over the envisaged contract term are type a) above, and the remaining are types b) and c). 3. Heavy Duty utility 4x4 vehicle – This is a single cab pick-up truck intended for service in the harshest enviroments. Its payload should allow it to be used as the basis for a number of variants/types. These vehicles should have heavy duty suspension, payload in excess of 1,000kg, excellent ground clearance, excellent wading depth, high-low transfer case, differential locks, extended range fuel tanks, and a power to weight ratio in excess of 26 watts/kg. Detailed minimum technical specifications will be conveyed in the solicitation document. The following eight variants/types within this vehicle category are sought: a) single-cab pick-up b) double-cab pick-up c) troop carrying vehicle d) prisoner transport e) cash transport f) drop side cargo g) workshop vehicle h) panel body. It should be noted that about 40% of the total number of vehicles estimated to be required over the envisaged contract term are type c) above, while types a), type b) and type d) represent together another 40% of the total, and the remaining 20% are types e) to h). While the above are only general estimates for all vehicle categories, the requirement for each heavy duty utility vehicle variant/type may even more significantly change compared to the above estimate.
