Training Venue, Scenario Support, and Services for SSAFE Training Delivered

The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) in Jordan is mandated to provide safety and security training to personnel of UNSMS organisations, international and national non-governmental organisations, and other international organisations. Its core Safe and Secure Approaches in Field Environments (SSAFE) programme strengthens participants’ ability to operate effectively in high-risk settings.

 

SSAFE combines classroom learning with immersive exercises that simulate real-world operational challenges. UNDSS requires holding the training at the Jordan International Police Training Centre (JIPTC) in Al-Muwaqqar district, Amman Governorate. UNDSS Jordan considers JIPTC suitable for this specialised training because it offers a secure setting away from military bases, mock villages and buildings, extensive field terrain, and hold-up areas that recreate realistic operational environments. JIPTC also provides logistical support and trained role players capable of safely using real firearms with blank ammunition and other kinetic simulation tools to deliver realistic field scenarios.
