Description
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) warmly invites eligible organizations to submit their proposals for the provision of technical services under the project “Improving Biodiversity and Sustainable Forestry” (GCP/SEC/025/TUR), financed by the Government of the Republic of Türkiye under the FAO–Türkiye Forestry Partnership Programme. The assignment aims to strengthen protected area management planning and implementation capacity in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan through the assessment, preparation and/or updating of Protected Area Management Plans (PAMPs) for two pilot sites: Chon-Kemin State Nature Park in Kyrgyzstan and Pap National Nature Park in Uzbekistan. The selected Service Provider will undertake a comprehensive, participatory and evidence-based planning process, including baseline and management effectiveness assessments, targeted field verification, biodiversity and socio-economic assessments, GIS and spatial planning, stakeholder engagement, and the development of practical management objectives, zoning and implementation frameworks. The assignment will also include the preparation of Technical Guideline(s) for protected area management planning, capacity development and knowledge transfer to relevant national and local counterparts. The assignment will be implemented over a period of 12 months, through parallel and coordinated workstreams in both countries, contributing to improved biodiversity conservation, sustainable protected area management and the strengthening of institutional capacities. FAO welcomes proposals from eligible governmental, intergovernmental and non-profit organizations with demonstrated technical expertise and relevant experience in protected area management planning, biodiversity conservation, GIS and spatial analysis, participatory planning and capacity development.
