Description

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through the EU-PH Green Economy Partnership, will conduct a series of online webinars and a two-day in-person Training-of-Trainers workshop on Green Public Procurement (GPP) and Circular Economy (CE) for representatives from partner LGUs, national government agencies, and project stakeholders. The activity aims to strengthen the capacity of participating LGUs to integrate sustainability and circular economy principles into public procurement processes, while equipping selected participants to serve as trainers and learning champions who can support the institutionalization and wider adoption of GPP practices within their respective local governments. The Capacity Building Workshop specifically seeks to:

    • Strengthen participants’ understanding of Green Public Procurement (GPP) and Circular Economy (CE) principles and their application within local government procurement processes.
    • Enhance the capacity of participating LGUs to integrate sustainability considerations and resource efficiency measures into procurement planning, sourcing, purchasing, and contract management.
    • Equip selected participants with the knowledge, tools, and facilitation skills necessary to serve as trainers and resource persons for the cascading and institutionalization of GPP practices within their respective organizations.
    • Promote peer learning, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among LGUs and key stakeholders to support the wider adoption of sustainable and circular procurement approaches.
    • Support participating LGUs in identifying opportunities, challenges, and practical actions for mainstreaming GPP and CE principles in local governance and public service delivery.
    • Develop individual and institutional action plans to facilitate the sustained implementation and scaling up of GPP initiatives beyond the workshop.
