Regional Debating Challenge Facilitator
In 2023, UNESCO, through the Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future (O3) Programme, commemorated the International Day by convening a regional virtual debate across East and Southern Africa on school violence, bullying, cyberbullying and mental health. The initiative brought together secondary school learners from six participating countries—Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Botswana, Uganda and Eswatini—to engage in structured debates on issues affecting their well-being. Each country selected student representatives, with the initiative designed to promote awareness, empathy, respect and inclusivity while giving young people an opportunity to actively engage in discussions around bullying and mental health.
In commemorating this day, UNESCO is seeking the services of an individual consultant, with an expertise in debating, to coordinate with the relevant National Debating Teams of the 8 participating countries (Kenya, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Zambia) across East and Southern Africa.
The consultant should be a national and residing in one of the 8 participating countries.
