Description

UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty is seeking information from vendors on the implementation of a pilot demonstration project in the Kyrgyz Republic aimed at strengthening the role of cryosphere research in climate change adaptation decision making, including the related analysis, modelling and glaciological monitoring services. The pilot is part of the GEF-UNDP-UNESCO project "Strengthening the resilience of Central Asian countries by enabling regional cooperation to assess glacio-nival systems to develop integrated methods for sustainable development and adaptation to climate change".

This announcement is a Request for Information (RFI) for market research and planning purposes only. It is not a solicitation for offers, no contract will be awarded from it, and responses will not be treated as proposals. The market research is conducted at no cost to UNESCO.

The requirements cover four areas:

  1. review and analysis of thematic cryosphere reports;
  2. adaptation and application of climate and hydrological models to river basins in Kyrgyzstan;
  3. interpretation and analysis of data on the impact of climate change on cryosphere components and water resources;
  4. monitoring the representative glaciers Golubin, Western Suek, No. 354, No. 599 and Abramov. Full details are in the attached RFI document.

Interested organisations are invited to provide: confirmation of their capability and interest (all components or specific components); a company profile; an indicative timeline; relevant experience in glaciological, cryosphere or hydrometeorological monitoring, modelling and analysis; confirmation of whether they hold the necessary authorisation to carry out glaciological monitoring in the Kyrgyz Republic, with supporting documents; their existing capacity for the glacier monitoring (datasets, equipment, field staff, safety arrangements); any partners or subcontractors; and any other organisations that could provide these services.

To respond, please complete the Vendor Information Form (Annex A) and the Checklist of Submission (Annex B) from the attached RFI document and send them, with supporting documents, by email to the contacts listed in this notice, no later than the deadline. The Terms of Reference is included into the RFI document. Registration on UNGM is not required to respond.
