Media activities throughout the Southwest Asia and North Africa region
Introduction
The International Criminal Court (ICC) is the first permanent international court established to investigate, prosecute and try individuals accused of committing the most serious crimes of concern to the international community as a whole, namely genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and the crime of aggression.
The seat of the Court is The Hague in The Netherlands, and in 2026, has ongoing investigations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Darfur (Sudan), Libya, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Burundi, Bangladesh/Myanmar, Afghanistan, Palestine, Philippines, Venezuela I and Ukraine. More information is available on the Court’s website and online publications at www.icc-cpi.int.
Current situation
As some of the Court’s investigations take place in the Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) region, it aims to inform the populations of those and neighbouring countries about its mandate, ongoing proceedings and judicial developments. The Court’s Public Information and Outreach Section is therefore looking to find an organisation with a vast network of professional media across the SWANA region. This is to help the Court reach the population on a large scale via traditional media (TV/ Radio/ newspapers and online), in English, French and Arabic.
