UNDP-NPL-00735-GF-Upgrade and Maintenance NTPMIS
Request for Proposal - Upgrade and Maintenance of the National Tuberculosis Programme Management Information System (NTPMIS)
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health threat in Nepal, with a high proportion of underdiagnosed and untreated people with TB, particularly among vulnerable and marginalized population groups. The 2025–2027 Global Fund GC7 grant is a critical initiative to address these challenges, consolidating achievements from previous grant cycles and driving forward the National TB Strategic Plan (2026/27-2030/31) to achieve End TB 2035 goals.
The grant focuses on improving TB case notification, reducing treatment loss to follow-up, addressing gaps in drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) treatment, and scaling up preventive treatment for household contacts of TB patients. It also emphasizes strengthening diagnostic networks, leveraging private sector engagement and addressing barriers related to human rights and gender equity. The National Tuberculosis Programme Management Information System (NTPMIS) comprising of the DHIS2 tracker-based NTP Service Tracker, the Sub-Recipient (SR) Reporting module, eTB Register, eTB PPM, NTP Dashboard, NTP Service Mapping and the GeneXpert Management Information System (GXMIS) serves as an efficient online, aggregate and case-based surveillance system that captures comprehensive data crucial for monitoring and evaluation. The platform allows for the collection, analysis, and visualization of TB indicators at all levels of the healthcare system, from national to local- health facility levels, providing real-time access to data that helps healthcare professionals and policymakers make informed decisions. With ongoing changes in programme activities, indicators, and digital health priorities, NTCC requires the system to be comprehensively upgraded, stabilized, and made fully interoperable with the national Health Management Information System (HMIS) and across its own modules, together with complete technical documentation and institutional knowledge transfer to NTCC for sustainability of the systems existing. In line with this, NTCC with support from UNDP, now seeks to engage a qualified consulting firm to deliver this assignment.
