Call for External Collaborator – Trade for Jobs Ethiopia: National consultant to support Market System Analysis (MSA) in Ethiopia

Dear Bidder, The International Labour Office (ILO) is looking for an individual to undertake work as an External Collaborator. Below is a summary of the work to be performed: The consultant will support the ILO Systems Change Initiative (SCI) to conduct a market systems analysis (MSA) in one of these three sectors: waste management and recycling, forestry and wood processing, or teff value-added products. The MSA will identify key constraints and opportunities for increased regional trade and more and better jobs, assess the incentives and capacities of key market actors, and identify potential systemic interventions and implementation partners. Working as part of a joint research team, the consultant will support the full assessment process, including developing the research workplan and methodology; conducting desk research and refining market system diagrams and priority constraints; undertaking at least 15 semi-structured interviews with businesses, workers, government and other market actors in Addis Ababa and field locations; and analysing and synthesising findings. The consultant will support preparation of the draft and final MSA, including practical intervention ideas addressing priority market constraints, and incorporate feedback from ILO, ITC, the donor and other stakeholders.
