Description
Under the JOBS project ITC has been supporting Iraq in its accession to the WTO. This process is highly technical and political and follows certain steps that is prescribed by the WTO Accession Division. The process also includes multilateral, plurilateral and bilateral negotiations with WTO members. As Iraq is an Arabic speaking country and since Arabic is not considered one of the WTO’s official languages, all documents developed by Iraq pertaining to the accession process must be translated into English. This also includes translation of laws that are listed in the Legislative Action Plan (LAP) as well draft laws that are requested by the members. In addition to this Iraq would also need interpretation support for meetings with the WTO held in Geneva, Switzerland. In order to provide the necessary support to Iraq, a translation/interpretation firm with experience in providing interpreting/translating services for trade and legal documents, particularly also familiar with WTO jargon, is required. These services will be required ideally until the end of the JOBS project, to be able to provide all the necessary support required for Iraq’s accession. As such, the purpose of this tender is to establish a system contract with a service provider for the provision of translation and interpretation services over 3 years, with an initial contract of one year, renewable on an annual basis at the discretion of ITC.
