Individual Statistician Consultant (National)

Description of the Assignment:  

The Consultant will support the MAFS in strengthening agricultural statistics systems, agricultural information management, food security monitoring, and sector performance reporting. He or She will work closely with Ministry staff and development partners to improve data collection, analysis, and dissemination systems and support evidence-based planning and policy development. With support from NBS and development partners, the Statistician will train various teams at the Ministry of Agriculture, with established guidelines provided by the Bureau. The overall scope of the assignment entails:

a.       Establishment of an Agricultural Statistical System for the collection, management, processing, analysis, reporting, dissemination, and archiving of agricultural production, market, food security, and rural development statistics.

b.       Capacity Building for the staff within the ministry in agricultural statistics, and evidence-based policy formulation, analysis and reporting.

c.       Coordination, data harmonization, integration, and dissemination between MAFS, the NBS, MDAs, and other macroeconomic data stakeholders, ensuring that agricultural statistics align with national statistical standards and reporting frameworks

d.       Liaising with the Aid Informational Management System on behalf of the Ministry

Period of assignment/services 190 Days
