Building the Technical Architecture of the General Education Certificate (GEC)

The purpose of the assignment is to enhance the GEC system infrastructure overall, shifting from manual capturing of data and information to a digitalized 21st century skills-based system.

1. To consolidate data and information from other Department of Basic Education data systems, including SA-SAMS, and develop a centralized platform that serves as the GEC certificate foundation;
2. To develop a digitized assessment to shift from manual capture, including digitalized assessment on the integrated project for Grade 9, Term 3; and
3. To extract 21st century skills inclinations evidence to deliver the holistic credential GEC; a dual-output credential with academic marks and skills/competency signals.
