Title:                                  International Marine Pollution Consultant

Project:                              Blue Green Islands Integrated Project – Global Environment Fund (GEF 8)

                                          Accelerating PNG’s Sustainable Blue Economy through Strengthened Governance and Investment in Marine Areas

Duty Station:                     Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (with travel to Autonomous Region of Bougainville, and Bootless Bay located in Central Province and National Capital District)

Contract type:                   International Consultant

Duration:                           85 days across 9 months from September 2026 to June 2027  

Expected start date:          September 2026


Scope of Work

The International Marine Pollution Consultant will lead the assessment, planning, and implementation support of marine pollution management interventions, ensuring alignment with Papua New Guinea’s environmental policies, coastal and marine governance frameworks, and sustainable blue economy objectives. The Consultant will deliver the assignment through five interrelated workstreams, providing technical leadership, capacity development, and strategic guidance to strengthen marine pollution management systems at national and subnational levels.

Workstream 1: Marine Pollution Assessment and Diagnostics 
Workstream 2: Marine Pollution Management Planning
Workstream 3: Circular Economy, Waste Management, and Implementation Support
Workstream 4: Monitoring, Capacity Building, and Policy Integration
