Description

4 km road access construction at Luakdong site in Gambella , Ethiopia:

UNHCR is seeking a qualified contractor to construct approximately 4 km of all-weather internal gravel access roads in Luakdong Refugee Settlement, Gambella Region, Ethiopia, including six cross-drainage culverts, side drains, mitre drains, and erosion protection works.

The project aims to improve year-round accessibility, drainage, and flood resilience within the refugee settlement, where seasonal flooding, black cotton soils, and poor drainage often make roads impassable. The contractor will be responsible for all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, testing, and quality control required for the works.

Key requirements include:

Construction of a 7 m wide gravel road with an 80 cm compacted road structure.
Installation of 6 reinforced concrete pipe culverts and associated drainage structures.
Compliance with ERA Road Specifications, UNHCR standards, and Ethiopian regulations.
Completion within 90 calendar days.
Provision of progress reports, as-built documentation, and a 365-day defects liability period.

UNHCR reserves the right to adjust the scope by up to ±30%, with the final road length expected to be between 3 km and 4 km, depending on operational needs and available funding. The project is intended to ensure reliable humanitarian access, support refugee services, and strengthen infrastructure resilience in the settlement.
