New clarification added: QuestionWe would like to request technical clarification regarding the pump selection and sizing parameters (flow rate, head requirements, pump kW rating, and controller capacity) outlined in the tender documents. As per Bill No. 3 of the BOQ, the current specifications call for:Solar PV Array: 5.5 kWp (10 pcs × 550 Wp) [Item 1]Solar Pump Controller: Max input 8 kW / 600V, rated current ≥ 30A [Item 4]Submersible Pump: 4 kW (4 HP), capacity 14.41 m³/hr [Item 5]However, based on standard pump performance selection curves, a 4 kW pump can typically be paired with either a 4 kW or a 5 kW pump inverter depending on the operating duty point and dynamic head.Could you please clarify if alternative inverter/controller ratings (e.g., 4 kW or 5 kW) are acceptable, or if the 8 kW controller capacity must be strictly maintained as specified in the BOQ?AnswerWith respect to the solar pump controller, the technical specification for the solar PV system recommends a maximum DC input power of 4,500 W to 4,800 W (Allows for efficiency losses). Accordingly, the 8kW controller specified in the BoQ should be regarded as the maximum allowable capacity to be provided. Note that at a minimum 4.5kW pump controller that is fully compatible with the PV array and is capable of delivering the required hydraulic performance must be provided. The BOQ has therefore been amended to reflect the above allowable range.

New clarification added: QuestionWe are writing on behalf of Aptech Africa Limited to seek clarification on the following:If we intend to bid for seven (7) sites, how should the total quantities be presented in the BoQ? Are the quantities provided in the BoQ calculated per site, or do they represent the total quantities for all sites?AnswerThe Bill of Quantities (BoQ) reflects the cost for a single site only. Consequently, the Bidders total bid amount must be multiplied by the number of sites in the specific Lot submitted for. For instance, if bidding for Lot 1, which comprises 4 sites, the total bid amount should be 4 times the total cost derived from the BoQ. This amount can be explicitly stated within the BoQ document in the Grand Summary Sheet.
