Description
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) invites eligible non-profit entities to submit proposals for the Collection of Field Data on Peatland Fires in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, under Project TCP/RAS/4003 – "Enhancing Peatland Management through Measuring Peatland Fire Emissions and Scaling it Regionally." The selected Service Provider will support the implementation of field activities during the peatland fire season, including: Organizing a two-day, in-person training on the field data collection methodology, including the provision of training facilities, logistics, and participant support. The technical training will be delivered by FAO-appointed international consultants. Deploying qualified field personnel to collect peatland fire data in response to peat fire occurrences, including: Fire Situation Evaluation (FSE) data; Fire extent (burn perimeter) measurements; and Peat burn depth measurements using manual grid and LiDAR-based methodologies. Collecting the corresponding satellite data for each field observation day using FAO-provided access and procedures. Routinely transferring all collected field and satellite data to FAO in accordance with agreed quality assurance and data management procedures. Field data collection is expected to be undertaken over an approximately 12-week period, subject to the timing and duration of the dry season and peatland fire occurrence in Central Kalimantan. Eligibility This Invitation for Proposal is open exclusively to eligible non-profit entities with demonstrated experience in peatland management, forestry, environmental monitoring, GIS, remote sensing, wildfire assessment, ecological field surveys, or related technical fields. Applicants should also have the operational capacity to conduct fieldwork safely and effectively in Central Kalimantan. Submission of Proposals Submission deadline: 29 July 2026. Proposals shall be submitted in PDF format by email to FAO-ID@fao.org. The email subject line shall read: "IFP – Collection of Field Data on Peatland Fires - TCP RAS 4003".
