Open International Competition (OIC)
Country of Destination: Brazil
Reference Number: UNES 2569/2026
Description: Works of renovation, adaptation and expansion of the IlhaMuseu, in Ilhabela, São Paulo, Brazil.
Deadline for Submission of Sealed Tenders: August 28, 2026
Posting Date: July 17, 2026
United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) hereby invite qualified companies to submit sealed tenders as follows:
Execution of services of renovation works and expansion and of new constructions of the project IlhaMuseu on Ilha das Cabras, located in Ilhabela, in São Paulo, as the projects of architecture and engineering.
The project aims to balance two fundamental aspects: reusing as much as possible the buildings, infrastructures and construction materials present on the island, considering the difficulty and cost of transporting materials both to the island and within it. The proposal provides for the renovation of existing buildings to adapt them to the new museum use, reducing the amount of material that would have to be transported to the island. With a focus on sustainability, accessibility, and integration with the natural environment. The island's rugged topography, with significant unevenness, poses an additional challenge for accessibility. The project foresees the construction of an accessibility system that includes suspended wooden walkways, ramps, an inclined plane elevator that follows the topography of the terrain and a vertical accessibility platform. Among the main buildings on the island are a pier, a jet-ski garage, stone-paved trails, a viewpoint, three houses and a swimming pool built directly on the rocky coast.
The purpose of this notice is to provide general information on the requirements for the procurement process and to inform interested suppliers how to obtain a copy of the Solicitation Documents.
Interested companies who wish to participate in the OIC must request a complete set of Solicitation Documents, available free of charge, from UNESCO contact person at the address shown below.
The sealed tenders must be delivered to the UNESCO Brazil Procurement Portal on or before August 28, 2026 at 17:00 hours (Brasilia Time, Brazil), in strict compliance with the instructions as stipulated in the Solicitation Documents.
UNESCO reserves the right to amend the documents at any time during the solicitation process. Any amendments or clarifications will be communicated directly to all Bidders who have requested for a complete set of solicitation documents and officially confirmed their intention to submit a sealed tender. No remuneration will be made to companies for preparation and submission of their tenders.
