Description

The United Nations Development Programme Eswatini, in collaboration with UNESWA and key partners, is implementing the UniPod initiative aimed at strengthening innovation ecosystems by establishing a modern, technology-enabled innovation hub within the University of Eswatini. The UniPod will provide integrated spaces including prototyping labs, collaboration zones, and innovation workspaces that support research commercialization, youth entrepreneurship, and technology development. The UniPod is being established as a multidisciplinary university-based innovation and entrepreneurship platform designed to foster youth innovation, technology development, research commercialization and enterprise creation.


The UniPod shall function as an innovation, entrepreneurship, digital collaboration and research space intended to support youth innovation, technology development, skills transfer and enterprise incubation. The scope of works shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • The establishment of Contractor’s camps and plants on site
  • Setting out of work including level control.
  • Conduct necessary inspections and provide reports for this stage.
  • Clearing and grubbing of the areas on which construction is to take place;
  • Ensure structural integrity and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provide progress reports upon completion of this stage.
  • Construction of the buildings
  • Conduct landscaping around the studio as per the design.
  • The relocation of and protection of existing services.
  • Complete interior and exterior finishes, including painting, flooring, and fixtures.
  • External Works
  • Prepare the building for handover, ensuring all systems are functional.
  • Maintenance of the works for a period of three (3) months
The selected service provider must deliver a fit for purpose UniPod as per the design and compliant with architectural designs and specifications, which are in compliance with local rules and regulations.

NOTE

Only contractors who meet the requirement for Construction Industry Council (CIC) Certification at B3 level or above are eligible to participate in this exercise. Contractors that do not meet this requirement will be automatically disqualified for further consideration.
