New clarification added: Vendor Request for Clarification Request for Clarification of Allowable Pump Outside Diameter RequirementWe would like to request clarification regarding the specified outside diameter (OD) of the submersible pump.The current UNOPS specification states:"< 6-inch submersible multistage centrifugal pump, axial, radial or mixed flow; directly coupled to a submersible motor. Pump OD (including motor and cable): 145–150 mm for an 8-inch borehole, with the required clearance maintained."However, the same UNOPS specification also states that:"The pump diameter shall be at least 10–15 mm smaller than the borehole casing internal diameter."Considering that an 8-inch borehole casing has an internal diameter of approximately 200 mm, a pump  with an outside diameter (including the cable) of up to 185 mm would still comply with the required 10–15 mm installation clearance.Therefore, we respectfully request that the requirement be revised or clarified to allow suppliers to offer pump assemblies with an outside diameter (including the cable) of up to 185 mm, provided that the required installation clearance is maintained in accordance with the UNOPS specification.Such a clarification would remain technically compliant with the installation requirements while promoting fair competition by allowing a wider range of qualified manufacturers and suppliers to participate without compromising the performance, safety, or functionality of the pumping system.We kindly request your favorable consideration of this clarification and look forward to your response.UNOPS Response    Dear Vendor,Thank you for your information above and request for clarification.Kindly adher to the specifications given.Thank you

New clarification added: Vendor’s Request for clarificationAs per discussed with our technical supervisor & engineers and we carefully reviewed the project documents and outlined the major key issues regarding the selection of the two submersible pumps:The site features an 8-inch well, presenting two selection scenarios:1. 8-inch pump: Perfectly matches the flow rate and the head requirements specified in the tender; However, the pump body is too large to fit into the 8-inch well, making on-site installation impossible. Kindly clarify 2.  6-inch pump: Fits the well but offers limited performance; there are two parameter options: ① 15 L/s (54 m³/h) flow rate model: Maximum head is only 155 m;② 10 L/s (36 m³/h) model: Flow rate is only 36 m³/h. Vendor’s Request for clarificationWe kindly request clarification regarding the following operating condition specified in the technical requirements for the submersible borehole pumps:Ambient/Water Temperature: 35–60°CWe understand that this project is for potable groundwater supply boreholes.For submersible borehole pumps, the electric motor is completely submerged in the pumped water and is cooled by the continuous flow of groundwater passing along the motor housing before entering the pump. Therefore, the water temperature is one of the most critical parameters for motor selection and thermal performance. As the water temperature increases, the motor's cooling capacity decreases, which may require a specially designed high-temperature motor and could significantly affect the pump and motor selection.While an ambient air temperature of up to 60°C may be a reasonable design condition for equipment installed above ground, a groundwater temperature of 60°C appears unusual for a potable water borehole application. Standard submersible motors from major manufacturers are generally designed for continuous operation in water temperatures up to approximately 40–45°C, unless a special high-temperature design is specified.Therefore, we kindly request clarification as to whether:The specified value of 35–60°C is intended to apply to the ambient air temperature only; orThe groundwater temperature is also intended to be up to 60°C.If the value of 60°C for the groundwater temperature was included unintentionally, we kindly request that the tender documents be revised accordingly to reflect the intended operating conditions.This clarification will help ensure that all bidders prepare technically compliant and comparable proposals. UNOPS ResponseDear Vendor,Thank you for your request for clarification.Please note that this is a hot water pump specification. We have reviewed your required technical, as per our manufacturer engineer this techncial is mis-match, if we quote 6 inch Pump OD So, we need 8 inch motor (NEMA/IEC starndard) and casing size is 10 inch. In 2nd condition we quote 4 inch pump OD than this pump not achieved the required flow rate and head.
