Description
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), on behalf of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), invites qualified, experienced, and reputable consultancy firms with demonstrated experience to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for participation in the upcoming Invitation to Bid (ITB) for the below 3 Projects in multiple locations within Dasht-e-Archi District, Kunduz Province, Afghanistan, under the PAIDAAR Programme: Lot 1: Construction of Water Tower with Solar System and Water Supply Network for LIC #9 (Mullah Wadood Settlement) Lot 2: Construction of Water Tower with Solar System and Water Supply Network for LIC #10 (Haji Mullah Wadood Settlement) Lot 3: Construction of Water Tower with Solar System and Water Supply Network for LIC #11 (Haji Mohibullah Settlement) The objective of these projects is to improve access to safe, reliable, and sustainable drinking water for vulnerable communities currently relying on unsafe water sources, thereby contributing to improved public health outcomes and enhanced community resilience. The proposed intervention entails the implementation of an integrated water supply system, combining both water production and distribution components to ensure a comprehensive and sustainable solution. The scope of works includes: • Construction of a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) elevated water reservoir tower, approximately 12 metres in height, with a storage capacity of 25 cubic metres; • Drilling and development of a 100-metre-deep borehole to secure a reliable groundwater source; • Supply and installation of an approximately 8 kW solar-powered system, ensuring energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable operations; • Installation of a water distribution network of approximately 3,580 metres (excluding household connections) to enable effective service coverage within the community; • Installation of household-level water stand taps equipped with water meters for approximately 174 households, to support equitable distribution, efficient system management, and responsible water use. Works will be implemented under a multi-lot procurement arrangement, with each lot corresponding to a distinct project site. Submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI) does not constitute a commitment to submit a bid under the subsequent solicitation. Bidders will have the option, under the ITB, to submit bids for one or more lots, subject to demonstrating the requisite technical capacity, relevant experience, and availability of resources for each lot for which a bid is submitted. Specific Requirements/Information IMPORTANT: This is not a request for submission of bids/proposals. Further details of the technical requirements, scope of work, specifictions, evaluation criteria will be provided under the solicitation stage at a later date. Interested vendors must posses the necessary technical expertise and capacity to provide the required services, as only suitably qualified vendors will be invited to participate.
