Irrigation and flood control waterworks
New clarification added: Clarification:Dear Sir/Madam,Greetings,We would like to inform you that our team has conducted a site visit to the project location, and the following observations were identified:Excavation and Backfilling Works:It was observed that the water channel is considerably wide and requires a very large quantity of backfilling material. However, these quantities were not clearly included in the Bill of Quantities (BOQ). Instead, they were indirectly referenced within the pipeline route item and measured on a linear meter basis rather than in cubic meters. This creates difficulty in accurately estimating the actual quantities and has a significant impact on the pricing.Pumps Specification:The type, make, and specifications of the required pumps have not been indicated in the tender documents or technical specifications, making it difficult to prepare an accurate technical and commercial proposal. Therefore, we kindly request your clarification regarding the above points and any additional information necessary to ensure an accurate and compliant quotation.Thank you for your cooperation and support.UNOPS REPLY:Al Khandaq: For further clarification, refer to the pipeline cross-sections (THIQAR-STR-12) and the Technical Specifications, which illustrate the trench excavation, bedding, backfilling, and compaction details.Pumps spesification: Please refer to the relevant section (Ex., Section 1, Section 17, etc.) of the Technical Specifications for further information

New clarification added: Clarification:Subject: Clarification Request Regarding Membrane Thickness Beneath Canal LiningDear UNOPS Team,With reference to the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and Technical Specifications for the subject project, specifically the item stating:"Providing machinery, equipment, and all required materials for laying a 1.0 cm thick membrane layer in the canal section beneath the lining,"we kindly request clarification regarding the specified membrane thickness. The BOQ indicates a membrane thickness of 1.0 cm (10 mm). However, in similar irrigation canal rehabilitation and lining projects, membrane thicknesses are typically specified in millimeters, with 1.0 mm being a commonly adopted thickness. Therefore, the stated thickness of 10 mm appears unusual and may significantly affect the selection of materials, procurement requirements, installation methodology, and bid pricing.Accordingly, we kindly request clarification on the following:Please confirm the correct membrane thickness required for this project (1.0 mm or 1.0 cm (10 mm)).If the required thickness is indeed 1.0 cm (10 mm), please provide the complete technical specifications of the membrane, including:Material type (HDPE, PVC, Geomembrane, or equivalent);Density and thickness requirements;Tensile strength and elongation properties;Permeability characteristics;Jointing/welding and overlap requirements;Installation and quality control procedures. This clarification is essential to enable us to prepare accurate and competitive offers and to ensure execution in accordance with the project requirements. We appreciate your support and look forward to receiving your clarification.Kind regards,UNOPS REPLY:Please note that UoM for this item was amended through amendment no. 2 (which will be published very soon)
