Description

The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to enter into a contractual agreement with a successful bidder and select a suitable contractor to provide the UNAIDS Communities, Human Rights and Gender Practice critical support to deliver its ambitious agenda on gender equality and HIV in 2026.
The provider shall be a company, partnership, consortium or and individual operating in the field of public health, gender equality and rights in developing contexts, including women’s, girl’s and gender-diverse’ s health and rights, HIV, with proven expertise in policy and advocacy, programming, writing, events organisation and experience in coordination functions in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment.
The consultancy is full-time, January - December 2026 for a minimum of 20 days per month, remote working in the same time zone of CAT/SAST.
UNAIDS’ Communities, Human Rights and Gender thematic focus area leads and supports advocacy efforts to place community leadership and engagement, human rights and and gender equality at the center of policy and programmatic efforts to scale up HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care services. UNAIDS recognizes that these approaches are critical to eliminating inequalities and truly "leaving no one behind" in our efforts to respond to the HIV epidemic. The thematic area strategically engages and reignites the leadership of women and girls in all their diversity, young and gender-diverse people, key populations, human rights defenders and other movements for social justice. It supports development of global and national policies and strategic interventions to address critical enablers to ensure that AIDS responses are grounded on human rights, gender equality, participation and inclusiveness and diversity, and leverages and supports work across SDGs 3, 4, 5, 10, 16 and 17.
The full-time consultant will provide the UNAIDS Communities, Human Rights and Gender Practice critical support to deliver its gender-related targets and commitments from the 2026-2031 Global AIDS Strategy in 2026.
