Description
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for promoting international cooperation on areas of meteorology, operational hydrology and related geophysical sciences. It plays a crucial role in monitoring weather, climate, and water resources to enhance global safety and sustainability. The Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) initiative is a financial mechanism which funds projects in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to establish risk-informed early warning services. CREWS works directly with countries to increase the availability of, and access to, early warning systems. Country and regional projects are implemented by the countries with the support of Implementing Partners, including WMO. As part of the CREWS East Africa project, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has identified a critical need to address outstanding gaps in Uganda. This initiative underscores the essential role of IT consolidators in enhancing operational capabilities. In response, WMO is looking for a reputable and capable company (“the Contractor”) able to supply clusters and workstations for the SmartMet system of Uganda.
