New clarification added: Dear Sir/Madam,Please can you clarify the following:1. Please can you clarify the meaning of the abreviation "BRM" in front of "Chiper"?2. Please clarify if the chipper machine ( LOt 2) must be supplied with a conveyor ( point 2.22 describes the electric motor of the Chip Conveyor 15Kw). Please if the machine is required with a conveyor, please can you provide some more/ additional details?3. With regards to the Scraper chain conveyor ( L-shaped) - please clarify if that item must be compatible with the equioment from Lot 2?4. Please can we have some pictures - only for visual reference - for the machines from Lot 1 & Lot 2?Looking forward to hearign from you,Kind regards,Dear bidder, Thank you for your questions and for your interest in participating in the tender process. Please find our responses below.1. Please can you clarify the meaning of the abbreviation "BRM" in front of "Chiper"?Answer The abbreviation “BRM” in the context of the “BRM 14 Chipper” serves as a generic identifier specifically within this tender, "Biomass Rotary Machine" (BRM) with Drum Rotor Mechanism, coming from a common inference where "BRM" could be shorthand for a rotary-type chipper used in biomass (wood, etc.) processing. It is not intended to represent a standardized technical designation. Instead, it functions as a generic label within this RFQ to distinguish this particular type or size of chipper machine being sought. We would like to emphasize that bidders are encouraged to propose chipper machines that meet or exceed the technical specifications provided in the RFQ, even if the proposed equipment carries a different model name than “BRM 14”.2. Please clarify if the chipper machine ( Lot 2) must be supplied with a conveyor ( point 2.22 describes the electric motor of the Chip Conveyor 15Kw). Please if the machine is required with a conveyor, please can you provide some more/ additional details?Answer Yes, the chipper machine under Lot 2 must indeed be supplied as a package that includes conveyors for both the input of wood (wood feed) and the output of processed material (chip discharge). This requirement is explicitly stated in item 2.26 of the technical specifications, which reads: "Package: Machine with conveyors for wood chip supply and removal, Passport". Furthermore, items 2.23 and 2.24, which refer to the "Electric motor of the Chip Conveyor – 1.5 kW" and its "Rotation speed – 1400 rpm", further confirm the necessity of an output conveyor. The chip supply conveyor could be designed to accommodate raw material with dimensions of up to 250 mm in diameter and 6000 mm in length, as specified in item 2.2. The chip removal conveyor should have the capacity to support a throughput in the range of 8 to 15 cubic meters per hour. It is essential that the chipper package includes all the necessary mechanical and electrical integration components required for the proper functioning of both the wood feed and chip removal conveyors.3. With regards to the Scraper chain conveyor ( L-shaped) - please clarify if that item must be compatible with the equipment from Lot 2?Answer The Scraper Chain Conveyor (Lot 1) is not required to be physically integrated or directly connected with the chipper machine specified under Lot 2. These two lots represent functionally separate components within the overall pellets production line. While they are part of the same process flow, the procurement processes for each lot are independent, and therefore, no specific physical or operational interoperability is a mandatory requirement.Notwithstanding this, bidders can propose optional enhancements or features if their equipment offered under Lot 1 exhibits complementarity or optimal compatibility with chip discharge or material transfer systems that might be relevant to the chipper from Lot 2. Such enhancements, if offered, would be considered as value-added proposals.Functional Relationship Between Lots:While the equipment described in Lot 1 (Scraper Chain Conveyor) and Lot 2 (BRM 14 Chipper Machine) will be part of the same overall pellet production process, the procurement and technical evaluation of each lot is conducted independently.Bidders are not required to ensure interoperability between Lots unless explicitly offering both. However, bidders are welcome to propose optional enhancements or integration features (e.g., transition chutes, interface sensors, control logic) if their equipment offers process advantages or compatibility with upstream or downstream systems.4. Please can we have some pictures - only for visual reference - for the machines from Lot 1 & Lot 2?Answer The machines outlined in Lots 1 and 2 are defined by their performance and functional criteria, rather than by reference to specific brands or models. Therefore, UNOPS will not be providing official pictures of the equipment. However, for non-binding visual reference only, Bidders may find it helpful to consult publicly available images of the following:An L-shaped scraper chain conveyor, commonly used in industrial biomass or pellet processing systems (you may search for terms such as “bulk solid handling systems”).A typical wood chipper machine equipped with both feeding and discharge conveyors, designed to process logs up to 250 mm in diameter and powered by electric motors in the 75–82 kW range. These references are intended to provide visual context only and shall not be considered as exact design requirements.Best regards,Procurement team
