Description
Background The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is an international organization with a diverse population, requiring catering services that respond to various dietary needs and preferences. The Commission seeks to enter into a Long Term contractual arrangement (LTA) with one or more food service entities for the provision of catering services and management and operation of restaurant, cafeteria, and bar services inside the UNECA compound at 4 (four) different locations. The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) complex is located along Menilik II Avenue, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It consists of several buildings that spread over an area of more than 11.05 hectares. In addition to the UNECA Secretariat Building, the complex accommodates 28 UN Agencies, other UN-affiliated and commercial entities with over 3000 persons (staff members, consultants, contractors, etc.). Central to the UNECA's function is the United Nations Conference Center in Addis Ababa (UNCC-AA), a premier venue that annually attracts over 30,000 delegates from around the globe. Furthermore, over 3,000 people work daily in the compound and a large number of visitors visit the compound daily including service providing personnel, vendor representatives and former employees, on a regular basis. As such, the restaurant and catering operations must meet all dietary preferences, including religious, cultural, vegetarian, vegan, kosher, and halal requirements. The quality of food must adhere to international food industry standards, and all food must be prepared in a clean and hygienic manner. The four locations envisioned for food service operation are: 1) The United Nations Conference Center in Addis Ababa (UNCC-AA), a premier venue that annually attracts over 30,000 delegates from around the globe. 2) The newly renovated Africa Hall 3) The Restaurant facility at the Nile Building 4) The Green House The substantial foot traffic and the diverse needs of the international delegates visiting the compound highlight the critical importance of providing top-tier catering services that not only meet but exceed the expectations for quality, variety, and cultural inclusivity in culinary offerings. As such, UNECA is seeking qualified service providers with the capability to cater to a diverse and international clientele with an understanding of varied cultural and dietary preferences. The successful bidder will be expected to provide a comprehensive catering service that includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, as well as special event services such as luncheons, dinners, and cocktail receptions. A detailed Terms of Reference shall be included in the solicitation documents after this EOI is closed. Kindly note that the UNECA is precluded from inviting vendors to participate in a tender exercise who are not fully registered in UNGM.
