RFP to conduct pre-assessments on user needs/uses, priority collections, and digital skills for promoting knowledge societies
The Samoa Knowledge Society Initiative, a UNESCO-led joint programme with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is a rights-based initiative that acknowledges the right to access to information to all Samoans, contributing towards an enabling environment for enhanced digital development.
By establishing an accessible localized knowledge platform, information needs of specific user groups are addressed such as professional communities, students, researchers but also those living with disabilities and in rural areas.
The overall objective of the assessment is to evaluate where the country stands with the contributions from the Samoa Knowledge Society Initiative. The implementing partners and national stakeholders will be consulted which will include all the Government ministries that were part of the implementation.
The assessment will be used to promote a partnership model in access to provide foresight, feasibility for scale-up and replication in the region, and SIDs-to-SIDs exchange. Assessments are to be done on user needs, priority collections, and digital skills for promoting knowledge societies.
