The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), on behalf of Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) invites qualified interested firms to submit Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming solicitation for provision of technical assistance implementation of the Technical Assistance on "Support for the use of nature-based solutions with an ethnic and gender-equity approach, to increase the resilience of rural mountain communities in protected natural areas affected by extreme weather events in Honduras". United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on behalf of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) requires the services of an institution to deliver the technical assistance. The purpose of this request is to design nature-based solutions with an ethnic and gender-equity approach, to increase the resilience of rural mountain communities in protected natural areas affected by extreme weather events in Honduras. As a result of this technical assistance it is expected a co-governance model for the implementation of an adaptation plan that can be replicable and scalable in other similar areas of Honduras. Some of the expected outcome, outputs and activities are; • Development of a detailed work plan and related communication documents • Creation of a working group for the formulation and co-governance of an Adaptation Plan • Identification of vulnerability to and risks from extreme weather events and gradual changes in ecosystems due to climate change • Co-design of an Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction Plan • Build a matrix of adaptation, resilience and disaster-prevention measures, classified by priority. These measures include, among other resilience measures, sustainable and circular agriculture, the bioeconomy and the strengthening of productive value chains. • Capacity building in rural communities, the ICF and local government (MAPANCE), and workshops for the rescue of cultural heritage. • Preparation of a concept note for application to public resources or international cooperation. • Estimate of costs of priority measures for implementation and identification of potential strategies and funding sources.
