The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), on behalf of Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) invites qualified interested firms to submit Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming solicitation for provision of technical assistance for the selection and implementation of a low-cost, climate resilient, re-usable, easy replicable, scalable and mobile flood barrier to prevent damage from flooding and ensure water availability in times of drought in one pilot site of Rubira Hills, Musenyi area of Mpanda Commune in Bubanza, Burundi. United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on behalf of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) requires the services of an institution to deliver the technical assistance. The overall objective of this technical assistance is to select and implement a low-cost, climate resilient, re-usable, easy replicable, scalable and mobile flood barrier to prevent damage from flooding and ensure water availability in times of drought in one pilot site of Rubira Hills, Musenyi area of Mpanda Commune in Bubanza, Burundi. Some of the expected outcome, outputs and activities are; 1. Preparing the consultancy work plan, periodical progress reports and final reports. 2. Comprehensive assessment of flood risks / drought risks of the commune of Mpanda. 3. Technology identification for flood barrier and storage facility 4. Planning for the implementation of the pilot project in Rubira Hills 5. Deployment of the mobile flood barrier in the pilot area 6. Definition of a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework The complete details of the requirement will be provided in the tender documents that will be issued to bidders after this request for EOI is closed.
