Description

The Governance Assessment Portal (GAP, www.gaportal.org) is a global hub for knowledge and practice on governance assessments, and provides a one-stop-shop on governance assessment materials. The GAP aims to be a resource for users across the world, and especially in developing country contexts with limited technical resources and internet access.

Overseen by an international steering committee, GAP is managed by the UNDP Oslo Governance Centre (OGC), which is responsible for its development and maintenance.  The GAP has been operational since 2007, and is built on Drupal 6.14. The site currently contains over 1,000 nodes and 10 content types, and in the process of integrating a number of interactive and web 2.0 features, set for completion by the end of 2010.

Objectives:

GAP is already uniquely well populated with relevant content. Significant improvements in the site’s usability, dynamic content, and interactivity are now prioritized. By the end of 2010, the following features will be integrated into the GAP:

1. Online Community

GAPcom will be an online community for experts and advocates, featuring social profiles, messaging, discussions and bookmarking functionality (see Annex III: GAP Community Concept Note)

2.Tagging
A back-end  tagging system will allow for auto-population of content across the GAP and GAPcom pages.

3.News scan
News stories captured in a feed aggregator will be dislayed and distributed across the GAP and GAPcom sites according to their tags (Annex IV: GAP Social Media Strategy)

4.Integration
All GAP and GAPcom functionalities and features should be fully manageable by OGC staff from within the Drupal CMS, and integrated with the GAP social media portfolio, including scribd, slideshare, youtube and other media (see Annex IV: GAP Social Media Strategy).
