UN/CEFACT Library Maintenance Tool

The United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) has developed a very comprehensive Core Component Library (CCL) which manages the business requirements expressed by its project teams. These requirements are translated into data elements and harmonized with existing data elements in order to ensure coherence between various areas of activity. This CCL has been in use for over ten years and has traditionally been maintained and published on Excel spreadsheets. However, the relationship between data elements, their hierarcy, the associated code lists, relations to other standards bodies, notes on their usage and historical submission data is very difficult to document in such a flat format. UN/CEFACT is therefore seeking a reliable tool which can satisfy the above future requirements. There will be two publications annually of the UN/CEFACT CCL, schema, Reference Data Models and CCL databases according to the above specifications - starting with the October 2018 librairies. These publications should be done in PDF files, Microsoft EXCEL Spreadsheets, HTML navigable visualization, XSD files and eventually UML diagram (as outlined in the Procedures for Reference Data Model & Associated Artefacts Publication).
