Description

BACKGROUND

The Effective Vaccine Management (EVM) assessment conducted in 2012 clearly highlighted the inadequacies in the quality and sufficiency of key component elements of an effective supply chain system. None of the four levels (National, State, County, Health Facility) scored the minimum 80% requirement in any of the nine EVM criteria. Both the State and County level vaccine stores were grossly inadequate and most in a poor state of repairs. To address this, the assessment was followed by the development of an improvement plan recommending the implementation of key activities at all levels for improved immunization service delivery.

It is envisaged that the country will introduce four new vaccines into the routine EPI services during the lifespan of the upcoming comprehensive Multi-year plan. All these will have an impact on the existing storage capacity especially at State and County levels. Therefore, there is high need to expand the Infrastructure at State and County levels to house both the cold chain equipment and other supplies for sustainable delivery of immunization services. In light of the above, UNICEF is looking for the services of consultancy firms to develop standard design and detailed costing of State and County Cold Chain vaccine stores.

OBJECTIVE

To Design and Prepare BOQ’s for a prototype State & County Level Cold Chain Stores in South Sudan. This is to enable fast implementation of such projects around the country as and when needed.
