Project Support for the ACP-EU programme in Jamaica

The ACP-EU Development Minerals Programme is a €13.1 million capacity building program that aims to build the profile, and improve the management, of Development Minerals (industrial minerals; construction materials; dimension stones; and semi-precious stones). The program is an initiative of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, financed by the European Union and UNDP, and implemented by UNDP. Development minerals are minerals and materials that are mined, processed, manufactured and used domestically in industries such as construction, manufacturing, and agriculture. Development Minerals are economically important close to the location where the commodity is mined. The mining of Development Minerals has important implications for sustainable development, however, they have not to date received adequate attention for their potential to impact livelihoods and few development programmes have provided support for this mining sub-sector.

UNDP wishes to engage a Project Assistant with a strong financial, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and project administration background who can efficiently and effectively facilitate and support activities for project implementation with relevant country and regional counterparts in the Caribbean.

The Project Assistant will be accountable to the Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Jamaica but will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist with strong support from the National Coordinator for the programme. The Project Assistant will provide assistance to project implementation in the mobilization of inputs, assist with the organization of missions and consultation activities and other tasks related to project implementation. The Project Assistant will be primarily responsible for providing high quality M&E, administrative and coordination support for the implementation of the Development Minerals Programme, in Jamaica.
