Safety of Life at Sea
The equipment to be purchased as part of this bid is to be used for demonstrating various types of safety equipment to the small scale fishing boat sector (<6m) operating in Pacific Island countries and territories as part of Safety at Sea training. Comparisons will be made between the various listed items and so bidders should ensure specified items closely match the technical specifications.
Some equipment items make reference to SOLAS, Maritime New Zealand and USCG. Where noted, the bidder should take such technical specifications into account when selecting equipment and matching such equipment to the ITB list. The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) is an international maritime treaty which requires Signatory flag states to ensure that ships flagged by them comply with minimum safety standards in construction, equipment and operation.
