Description
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (hereinafter referred to as UNON), on behalf of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) Jordan Programme, is inviting interested vendors to submit an Expression of Interest for the anticipated solicitation exercise to establish a contract for Construction and Landscaping Works for Wadi Al Hadadeh Park – Amman, Jordan. UN-Habitat supports sustainable urban development and resilience building in cities, including strengthening adaptive capacity to climate related risks. In Jordan, increasing flood risks driven by rapid urbanization, insufficient drainage systems, and climate change have significantly impacted infrastructure, livelihoods, and access to basic services. Building on prior interventions, including flood risk assessments and pilot green infrastructure projects, UN-Habitat is implementing the project “Smart Urban Water Management: Enhancing the Adaptive Capacity and Urban Resilience of Amman through Urban Green Infrastructure”. The project aims to enhance urban resilience through sustainable water management systems and flood mitigation measures.The objective of this assignment is to implement flood mitigation infrastructure at selected high-risk locations in Amman, specifically at Wadi Al Hadadeh, one of the prioritized flood hotspots identified through hydrological and hydraulic modelling. Scope of Works The selected contractor will be responsible for executing construction works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BoQ), including the following components: 1.Topographic Survey Review and validate existing survey data and produce an accurate representation of site conditions. This includes mapping ground elevations, utilities (underground and overhead), existing structures, roads, vegetation, and property boundaries. Deliverables shall include survey drawings in CAD and PDF formats, a digital terrain model, and a summary report. 2. Geotechnical Verification Verify the findings of the existing geotechnical investigation through site testing during excavation works, including confirmation of soil characteristics, bearing capacity, and other relevant parameters. 3. Site Preparation and Fencing Undertake site mobilization and establishment of temporary facilities, implement site security and erosion control measures, carry out clearing and grubbing, demolition of existing structures where required, and installation of site fencing with controlled access points. 4. Excavation and Earthworks Perform all earthworks including mass grading, cut and fill operations, trenching for utilities, structural excavation, slope stabilization, and proper disposal or importation of materials. All works shall comply with geotechnical recommendations and include necessary laboratory testing. 5. Construction Works Execute all civil, structural, and associated works, including concrete works for foundations, slabs, and structural elements; masonry works; structural steel installation; carpentry; and installation of building elements and underground tank structures, including waterproofing and insulation systems. 6. Landscaping Works Implement both hardscape and softscape elements, including final grading, soil preparation, installation of walkways and retaining structures, planting of trees and vegetation, and establishment of turf areas. 7. Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Works Install all required mechanical and electrical systems, including distribution panels, cabling, lighting systems, grounding, piping networks, and pumps necessary to ensure full functionality of the site. 8. Irrigation and Agricultural Works Install a complete irrigation system, including piping, valves, controllers, and emitters, and undertake associated agricultural works such as soil preparation and planting, as required. Project Location The site is located in Wadi Al Hadadeh District at the intersection of Al Urden Street and Abu Ayoub Alansari Street, Amman, Jordan, with an approximate area of 4,300 m². Specific Requirements/Information IMPORTANT: Interested vendors must posses the necessary technical expertise and capacity to provide the required services, as only suitably qualified vendors will be invited to participate. Vendors are required to complete the attached self-declaration form (Annex A) and return the form via email to unon-procurement@un.org with a copy to njuguna1@un.org Vendors expressing interest must be registered with the United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM) at minimum of Basic Registration Level. Vendors not registered in UNGM will not be eligible to paricipate in the Request for Proposal at a later stage. Details of the techincal evaluation criteria and other particular requirements will be provided under the Request for Proposal stage. Vendors possessing the following attributes are strongly encouraged to participate: (a) Inclusive of persons with disabilities, (b) A demonstrated commitment to achieving gender equality, (c) Woman-owned business status, (d) Originating from developing countries, countries with economies in transition, or least developed countries. An Expression of Interest does not guarantee paricipation in the request for proposal as only suitably qualified vendors will be invited to pariticpate
