The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) on behalf of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hereby invites qualified firms to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming competitive bidding exercise for the services of installation and connection of 2,900 (Qty) solar panels at the UN Gigiri compound in Nairobi, Kenya. The purpose of the contract resulting from the upcoming solicitation exercise is to carry out tasks which include: •Installation of the 2,900 Solar Panels. (Note solar panels to be provided by UNEP) •Supply of: invertors for a 280 kW Peak system; adequate UV resistant wiring to power point some 50 meters away; connection boxes with surge protectors, aluminium/ steel structures to hold panels to be mounted at roof level (flat roof), with an inclination angle of approx 20°; adequate lightning arresters; a solar data logger system with continuous output of power generation and individual invertor performance. •Connect the solar panels in strings, with Direct Current (DC) power lines running through suitable ducting to the inverter’s location. •Provision and installation of DC and Alternating Current (AC) electrical conductors and all intermediate connection boxes and grounding circuits •Connection of the inverters to the panel string and electrical grid. The full cost of transportation, installation, maintenance and commissioning of the system is to be borne by the successful bidder, recovering this by annual payments made by UNEP for electricity produced by the solar installation; the payment rate is to be tied to Kenya Power and Lighting Company's electricity tariff rates.
