Technical and Coordination Support for Menstrual Health and Hygiene: Unlocking Women’s Power project in Ethiopia
The Ethiopia Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) project seeks to transform the national landscape by aligning local quality standards with international ISO/TC 338 frameworks and advocating for the removal of VAT and customs duties on products and raw materials. By revitalizing the National Mirror Committee (NMC) and leveraging UNFPA’s strategic leadership, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between technical quality assurance and consumer affordability. The primary goal is to foster a sustainable, equitable ecosystem that incentivize domestic manufacturing, thereby integrating MHH into national industrial and health priorities to improve educational retention and socioeconomic empowerment for women and girls
