Payment Services – Prepaid Card Solution for the EU-MDG Agricultural Input Programme in Mozambique
In the context of achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG1c), the Government of Mozambique received a grant from the European Union to implement a food and nutrition security programme that is jointly executed by three UN agencies (FAO, IFAD and WFP). FAO sub-component of the MDG1c is supporting the increase of production and productivity of food crops, improve access to adequate food and improve the nutritional status of vulnerable groups.
The increase of production and productivity shall be achieved through the payment of a subsidy to facilitate access to seed, fertilizer, and other production inputs with a long-term objective of replacing in-kind distribution. In this context, FAO wants to implement a new program with an electronic payment mechanism as a cost-effective method of implementation. This new system provides also a potential for the provision of additional financial services to beneficiaries in the future.
To this end, FAO Mozambique is hereby inviting experienced bidders in the provision of Payment Services through Prepaid Card Solutions to express their interest by sending the attached form to mz-tender@fao.org.
