Description
United Nations Office at Nairobi (hereinafter referred to as UNON) on behalf of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) Ethiopia invites qualified interested firms to submit Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming solicitation for the Provision of (i) Equipment Rental Services ( excavator, bulldozer and dump truck, etc.) and (ii) Supply of Construction Materials for the Rehabilitation of Dire Dawa Dump Site through implementing the Fukuoka Method, Dire Dawa, Ethiopia. The scope of works consists of the restoration and establishment of a safe and sustainable environment for Dire Dawa City through the implementation of the Fukuoka Method and the WaCT application for solid waste management. This includes rehabilitating and stabilizing the Dire Dawa dumpsite to reduce the immediate and high risk of methane gas explosions, prevent contamination of groundwater from leachate seepage, and avoid waste-related fires and explosions. The project also aims to improve public health by reducing odor and disease-carrying pests, thereby enhancing the quality of life and minimizing the negative impacts of the landfill. Additional details, specifications, and terms of reference shall be provided in the tender document to be issued subsequent to this REOI. UNON invites companies to express their interest clicking the "Express Interest" button on the UNGM portal.
