Provision of Professional Catering Services at the Event & Wellness Centre, UNON Gigiri Complex, Nairobi, Kenya

GENERAL SCOPE: The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) invites qualified bidders to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming competitive bidding exercise for the provision of food preparation and catering services to UNON. The scope of the requirements will include catering services to be provided at the UN Events & Wellness Centre (UNEWC), Mara Sundowner Bar & Restaurant, as well as three (3) coffee stations in embedded with office blocks. The intended outcome of the upcoming tender process is to award a contract for the catering services for an initial period of three (3) years with the option to extend for 2 additional periods of 1 year each (3+1+1) The service provider will be responsible for the operation and management of the UN Events & Wellness Centre (UNEWC), Mara Sundowner Bar & Restaurant and three coffee stations. In addition, there may be requirements to provide catering for ad hoc UN official functions throughout the UN compound at Gigiri in Nairobi. The awarded contractor will be required to independently furnish the designated space provided for kitchen purposes, and provide own equipment and furniture required to meet the necessary operational requests. All necessary works and furniture shall be provided in the capacity and volume required to successfully cater to the restaurant, bar, coffee shops and ad hoc events held at UNEWC. Potential Clients and Event Opportunities: The complex accommodates approximately 5000 staff members daily, hosts numerous conferences and annually hosts various UN Assemblies. Additionally, the Mara sundowner restaurant space serves as a social setting, which can comfortably cater for the less formal evening social crowd, poolside service, health-conscious wellness members, casual weekend family patronage and contractor driven initiatives such as book clubs, happy hours, theme nights, international sporting events etc. The three (3) coffee shops are each expected to serve 50 – 80 customers daily. Currently, the average number of events ranging from workshops, retreats, conference meetings, sit down lunches/dinner to evening receptions and cocktails per month is 15. The bar and restaurant shall serve foods and drinks including basic beverages, breakfast options & soups, salads, vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals, pizzas, sandwiches, à la carte, events and conference menu, pastries, dessert, etc. Working Hours: The standard working hours of UNEWC are Monday to Friday from 06:30 to 20:30, Saturday from 07:00 to 19:00. Sunday and during the official UNON holidays, working hours are from 09:00 to 19:00.
