Country: Sierra Leone

Description of the Assignment: 4.2.2 Communications and Reporting Consultant, Freetown Treetown, Freetown, Sierra Leone

Period of assignment/services (if applicable): 6 months.

The purpose of consultancy is to provide communications and reporting support to the Freetown City Council (FCC) for the implementation of the #FreetownTheTreeTown campaign, one of the winners of the 2021 Global Mayors Challenge. The project provides monetary incentives for local communities to plant trees, establishing a tree investment platform that funds additional reforestation. Using geospatial tagging for each new tree, the initiative creates tree tokens in the hopes of developing a new market focused on the reforestation of the city. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to use market forces to drive climate action at the community level.

UNDP is looking to select a consultant to technically support the #FreetownTheTreeTown campaign and the Freetown City Council (FCC) in

(1) elaborate the project natural capital investment marketing strategy, with a focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targeting corporate and institutional investors,

(2) develop a communications campaign for the project, including brand and pitch materials targeted to identify investment opportunities in the private and carbon markets, and

(3) produce accurate performance reports and regular updates about the project.
