CIVIL WORKS-Baidoa Water Catchment
1. Project Overview:
Water scarcity is a serious threat to Somalia and is hindering the country’s economic and social development. Throughout Somalia, trends of reduced surface water and groundwater reserves and increased occurrences of droughts and floods have been observed and are predicted to worsen. In response, GEF Integrated water resource management project support construction of surface water infrastructure with auxiliary works under component 3 to promote rural water supply and increased climate change resilience in flood and drought prone areas.
UNDP is looking to acquire the services of qualified contractor for the purpose of supplying, installing and construction of rainwater harvesting system in Baidoa town, Bay region, Southwest state.
2. Objectives:
The purpose of this project to support the construction and installation of the following activities.
Water catchment/ water pond
· Water canal at the upstream
· Silt trap
· Install Chain link fencing to protect the water catchment.
· Elevated water tank
· Office rooms
· 1 kiosk
· Animal troughs
· Solar system and surface water pump with all required cables and accessories
· Pipping system to all the auxiliary works
