Description
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), on behalf of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), invites qualified interested firms to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming solicitation for Producing national climate change scenarios and risk assessments. UNEP intends to contract a company/companies to develop nationally owned climate change scenarios and risk assessments, based on the best available techniques and data, that can be used as the basis for national and sub-national climate change adaptation planning. The risk assessments should focus on the impacts of climate change on and through nature-based variables such as soil erosion, river flows, and forest and rangeland productivity as well as agricultural variables such as crop production and livestock productivity and health-related variables, the logic being that, without adaptation, the first-order risk variables (nature-based) are major determinants of the risks to economic variables (crops, livestock, and health). Projects will be executed in both Anglophone and Francophone countries. Interested bidders should have a high standard of written English. All project documents and annexes will be written in English. The expected tasks would comprise the following: • Developing downscaled or area-based climate change projections • Develop impact storylines to identify key vulnerability factors. • Develop climate risk assessments. • Identify adaptation options to address climate risks. • Develop a summary for policymakers. • Develop a digital information platform for climate risk assessment information. • Develop a strategy to address the gaps in a fully functional system of climate services. The complete details of the requirement will be provided in the tender documents that will be issued to bidders after this request for EOI is closed.
