Description
The United Nations ("UN") Secretariat seeks to host online the administration of the high-stakes interpreters' examination, which is part of the Competitive Examinations for Language Positions (CELP). As such, the UN seeks an online software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that provides asynchronous video interviewing with simultaneous audio playback and recording capabilities. The UN periodically holds the interpreter's examination and seeks to build talent pools (or rosters) for language positions that include interpreters in any of the six official languages of the United Nations: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish. The UN expects at most 250 concurrent exam takers or candidates per exam. Each part of the interpreters' examination will be approximately 30 minutes, with three speeches between 8 to 10 minutes. As part of the process, candidates must play and simultaneously record their audio responses or interpretation of the speeches within that time. Also, candidates must be able to take the exam in different geographic locations, sometimes with limited or restricted internet connectivity. Previously, the United Nations piloted a few off-the-shelf or commercial online platforms with pre-recorded video or audio recording capabilities. As such, the United Nations seeks a state-of-the-art, quality, and reliable platform for administering the interpreters' examinations of UN interpreters for the next 3 to 5 years.
