Background: The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), on behalf of UN-Habitat Mozambique, is seeking for companies / vendors interested in participating in an upcoming tender process for the purchase of construction materials for housing construction activities in post-disaster areas within the Project entitled “Building Back Better and Resilience Building: An Integrated Territorial Approach in Sofala Province, Mozambique.” Description of Requirement: The items needed are divided into two (2) Lots as follows: Lot 1 (1) Cement (2) Steel Bars (Class A400 NR Rebar) (3) Black annealed wire (4) Constrution Nails (5) Plain Steel Sheets (6) IBR Sheets Lot 2 (1) Concrete Blocks (2) Cement Breeze Blocks (3) Plain Wood Board (4) Wooden Beam The materials will be used for most common construction uses as outlined below: - Simple concrete for general use in foundations and elevations - Reinforced concrete: mainly indicated for strength classes C12/15 to C25/30 - Concretes of great masses - Prefabrication: reinforced concrete structural elements without significant mechanical requirements. - Artefacts and other simple concrete elements - Soil cement - Mortar of all types ACCEPTABLE STORAGE CONDITIONS - The material should be stored in a cool, dry environment, protected from drafts and preserving direct contact; - The material must be new and in good condition, without oxidation, physical wear, or corrosion; - The material should be on pallets of 40 units maximum, with an overlap of fewer than 20 units, and should be at least 100 cm from the walls and 50 cm from the ceiling - Constractors will be expected to respect the order of arrival of the product and its storage, whose focus will always be to consume the product so as not to exceed the expiration date - The Cement should be valid, at least less than three months from the date of manufacture Companies from any part of the world are invited to submit their applications, before the REOI closing date, to be invited to participate in the upcoming bidding process. The solicitation process and award of contract will be made per Lot. Applicants should note that UNON, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to request for additional information or documentation should this be required. No payment will be made by UNON to applicants or any other entity for any costs, expenses, losses or damages incurred or suffered by the applicant or any other entity arising out of or in connection with the preparation of the application. Applicants may send their questions/enquiries not later than 48hrs to the REOI closing time to the email addresses provided in this REOI. Please note that this is not an invitation for submission of tenders. The purpose of this REOI is to invite interested companies to express their interest to be invited in the solicitation/ invitation for bids when issued. The complete details of the requirement will be provided to the Bidders at the bidding stage. UNON reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement at any time during the REOI and/or solicitation process. Thus, submitting a reply to this REOI does not automatically guarantee your company will be considered for receipt of the solicitation when issued.
