Description
Introduction 1. The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) of the United Nations (UN) Department of Operational Support (DOS) provides comprehensive information technology electronic and communications systems to its Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions (SPM) throughout the world. 2. Whilst delivering on this mandate, The United Nations (UN) has deployed an assortment of consumable and movable materials, including but not limited to electrical and electronic equipment, critical for facilities and operational activities. At the end of their life cycle these goods are considered e-Waste. 3. Below are the discscription of the e-waste that the UN has accumulated and currently stored at premises across the Mission: The types of e-Waste are expected to include, but are not limited to: Central Processing Units (CPU), Monitors, Laptops, Printers, Mobile Phones, Satellite Equipment, Satellite Phones, Communications Relay Stations, Fax Machines, Fixed Telephones, Video & Audio Equipment, Security Equipment (Radar Guns, X-Ray, Metal detectors, etc…), Photographic Equipment, Office Equipment, (Photocopiers, Projectors, Dictating Machines), Peripherals (UPS, Scanners…), Used Electronic Cables, Washing machines, Dryer Machines, Air Conditioners, Refrigerators, Electric Cookers, Microwave cookers, Televisions, and other miscellaneous electronic products, etc, etc.. 4. The purpose is to establish an adequate environmentally sustainable long-term handling, recycling and safe disposal of e-waste solution in line with the requirements of the United Nations Environmental Policy to prevent inadvertent human health and environmental hazards. 5. The full technical requirements and details will be provided with a formal solicitation document to be issued at a later stage, soon after the closing date for this EOI.
