Digital Finance & Agriculture Consultant

Under the supervision of UNCDF Digital Country Lead, the Digital Finance & Agriculture Consultant will work on the following areas of intervention: 

Area of intervention 1. Inform UNCDF’s programme interventions that enable improved access to digital finance in agriculture for target population segments in Uganda:

·       Draft Go-to-market plans and strategies, implementation plans and iteration tests for at least 2 partner institutions. 

·       Design digital strategies to enable improved access to digital finance in agriculture for at least 2 partner institutions.

·       Prepare training curricula, materials and train (at least 3 training workshops) agriculture value chain stakeholders and relevant government partners on improved access to digital finance in agriculture.

·       Based on the projects above, write 3 publications (blogs, white papers, reports).

·       For the above projects collect the evaluation and monitoring reports (Project KPI's Tracking). 

Area of intervention 2. Provide technical expertise to UNCDF’s interventions related to Improved agricultural productivity and better market linkages for smallholder farmers, leading to increased income for rural communities in agricultural value chains in Uganda:

·       Design at least 2 innovation challenges to select start-ups & FinTech’s that could provide innovative solutions to unlock current market constraints.

·       For at least four of the partners selected in the challenges, design project appraisal documents, business cases (project descriptions) and related project workbooks (including results measurement frameworks, targets, work plans, risk management tools, budget tracking tools). 

·       Draft 2 Go-to-market plans, strategies and implementation plans.

Area of intervention 3. Provide technical assistance to financial institutions, payment service providers (Agro-fintechs) including mobile money providers and money transfer operators to pilot and scale digital inclusion related service and products focused on the needs of rural farmers and producer organizations:

·       Design training materials and facilitate at least 2 think-tank sessions with partners on lessons learnt from ongoing and previous projects and research studies.

·       Provide technical support provided to at least 2 partner institutions that are implementing new or existing interventions with UNCDF. 

·       Draft and/or review policy documents, manuals and specifications related to digital finance and Agriculture for at least 2 partner institutions.

Area of intervention 4. Facilitate the exchange of insights, experiences and technical expertise through hosted workshops, peer-to-peer exchanges, conferences and meetings within the country:

·       Write at least 3 publications (Blogs or white papers or case studies) per year including key insights coming out of the project implementation.
