The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA) is looking for a qualified, specialized, and experienced Company to design, supply, install, and commission Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems, Solar Water Heating (SWH) systems, and water irrigation systems in the municipality of Al Achaari in Maan and the town of Batir in Al Karak, Jordan. UNESCWA is working on a “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in rural areas of the Arab region (REGEND)” Project. This regional initiative is a Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) funded project and aims to improve the livelihood, economic benefits, social inclusion and gender equality of Arab rural communities particularly marginalized groups, by addressing energy poverty, water scarcity and vulnerability to climate change and other natural resources challenges in three targeted countries, namely Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia. Within the framework of REGEND’s activities, pilot projects will be implemented in selected communities located in the municipality of Al Achaari and the town of Batir in close coordination and consultation with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), and ESCWA through its energy team and national consultant. The pilot projects’ main beneficiaries are Al Jawhara Community-Based Organization (CBO) and a farm in Al Achaari, Chabbat Batir CBO and a farm in Batir, and individual homes in Al Achaari and Batir. The pilot projects shall consist of three (3) main components. Services shall include, but not be limited to: 1) Design, supply, install, and commission nine (9) on-grid solar PV systems and one (1) off-grid solar PV pumping system. One (1) is a 22 kilowatt-peak (kWp) on-grid ground-mounted system, one (1) is a 12 kWp on-grid rooftop system, five (5) are 4 kWp on-grid rooftop systems, two (2) are 3 kWp on-grid rooftop systems, and one (1) is a 10 kWp off-grid ground-mounted solar PV pumping system. 2) Supply, install, and commission three (3) SWH systems with automatic electric backup. The capacity of each system will be 500 liters. 3) Design, supply, install, and commission two (2) drip irrigation systems: one will be integrated with the 22 kWp on-grid ground-mounted PV system and one will be integrated with the 10 kWp off-grid ground-mounted PV pumping system. The drip irrigation systems will include but not be limited to the following components: pump unit, control head, main and submain lines, laterals, drippers, and filtration tank. 4) Renovation of electrical works and wiring, replacing lighting units with LED units, and addition/repair of building envelope insulation of the buidling of Al Jawhara CBO and Chabbat Batir CBO. Services shall be inclusive of commissioning the systems and provisioning of after-sales services such as warranty, troubleshooting, diagnostic, maintenance, repair, and training to personnel.
