Study on the Human Dimensions of the Financial Crisis
The financial and economic crisis hit developing countries like Ethiopia quite hard with dire effects on inflation, foreign reserves, exports and poverty levels. That in its turn it is believed had a detrimental effect on the access of the poor and the vulnerable like girls, women and children to health, education and other basic services.
UNFPA is looking into undertaking a study along in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to explore the Human Dimensions of the Financial and Economic Crisis in Ethiopia especially on the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) mandate areas including sexual and reproductive health, gender and HIV/ADIS assessing also data gaps in these areas and the effects of the new challenges posed by recent climate change.
The study will assess the impact of the crisis using an empirical assessment and a qualitative approach, even though much use should be made of available national databases, quantitative data and existing and relevant studies. The study will be conducted to identify the impact of the financial crisis on ICPD areas from a gender-, socio-economic and geographical perspective.
In this context, UNFPA Ethiopia Country Office invites proposals from interested and qualified firms for the above-mentioned professional services. The technical and financial proposals should be submitted in separate sealed envelopes on/or before Monday, September 6, 2010 at 3:00pm. Late offers shall be rejected.
